Ghanaian rapper Samuel Adu Frimpong, widely known as Medikal, has dismissed claims that he is rude, saying his personality is often misunderstood.
According to him, what some people interpret as arrogance is simply the intense passion and ambition that drive his music career.
In an interview on Prime Time on Joy Prime, Medikal explained that his strong dedication to his craft shapes both his work ethic and his success.
“People say I’m rude, but I’m not. I’m passionate and driven when it comes to my career. It’s that passion that pushes me to reach new levels in life,” he said.
The rapper added that his hunger for growth keeps him working nonstop, even when he is already topping charts.
“I might have the hottest song out today and still wake up the next morning to hit the studio. I’m hungry for what I do. That hunger is what keeps me energized and pushing forward,” he said.
Medikal stressed that consistency and repetition have been key to his rise, crediting his natural talent and relentless commitment for carrying him through the music industry.
“My journey has been built on talent. My talent has taken me this far—it’s the main source of my success,” he noted.
He also highlighted that beyond entertainment, his music helps listeners deal with their personal struggles.
“I rap to entertain and to help people overcome their problems and depression,” he explained.
Addressing critics who call him rude or boastful, the “Omo Ada” hitmaker suggested that negativity often hides admiration.
“Love is derived from hate. My haters actually love me,” he said confidently.
Medikal also shared insights into his relationship with singer Sister Derby, saying they currently have a positive and supportive rapport. He acknowledged her kindness throughout his career and said they continue to show each other mutual respect.
Wrapping up the interview, the award-winning rapper spoke about the legacy he hopes to build.
“I want people to remember me for my realness. I’m a real guy,” he said, reaffirming his commitment to authenticity in both his life and music.
