The family of the late highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, widely celebrated as Daddy Lumba, has released a firm public statement addressing what it describes as growing misinformation surrounding his funeral preparations and the status of his widow, Mrs. Akosua Serwah Fosuh.
According to the family, a funeral poster circulating on social media was produced without the knowledge or approval of Mrs. Fosuh. In the unauthorized poster, her name appears alongside another individual also labeled as “widow”—a move the family says is both misleading and disrespectful. They further revealed that several names featured on the poster were inserted purely “for cosmetic purposes,” urging the public to disregard the material in its entirety.
The family also took issue with remarks made by entertainment analyst Mr. Kofi Owusu, who reportedly suggested on air that Mrs. Fosuh’s German marriage certificate was an “Ashtown document.” They condemned the comments as “pathetic, uninformed, and hostile,” emphasizing that the marriage certificate is fully legitimate and recognized internationally.
In their statement, the family reaffirmed their confidence in their official spokesperson, Evangelist Papa Shee, also known as Nana Yaw Akosah. They explained that he was a close confidant of Daddy Lumba for many years and continues to hold full authorization to speak on the family’s behalf. Any claims questioning his authority, they insisted, are baseless.
Addressing recent developments in court, the family acknowledged the ruling delivered by Her Ladyship Justice Dorinda Smith Arthur concerning aspects of the ongoing family matters. While expressing respect for the judicial process, they indicated that they disagree with certain elements of the judgment and intend to pursue legal options to secure clarity particularly to safeguard the dignity of Daddy Lumba’s widow and children.
Reaching out especially to Ghanaians abroad, the family reassured the public of the credibility and prestige of German marriage certificates, referring to them as “the Mercedes-Benz of marriage certificates.” They closed their message by reiterating their commitment to honoring the legacy of Daddy Lumba with transparency, unity, and dignity as preparations continue.
