Mohbad’s Family Demands DNA Test, Blocks Widow From Using ‘Aloba’ Name!

Mohbad’s Family Demands DNA Test, Blocks Widow From Using ‘Aloba’ Name!

The family of the late Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has once again intensified its call for a transparent and independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding his tragic death. In a new statement, the family also instructed the singer’s widow, Wunmi, to desist from using the Aloba surname until a court-authorized DNA test confirms the paternity of her son, Liam.

The statement, jointly signed by Omolayo Aloba, the head of the family, and Joseph Aloba, Mohbad’s father, reaffirmed their commitment to uncovering the truth about the death of the 27-year-old artist, who passed away on September 12, 2023. More than a year later, his remains still have not been laid to rest—an issue the family says is tied to their ongoing pursuit of justice and clarity.

New Legal and Administrative Appointments

As part of renewed efforts to manage the legal and estate-related issues surrounding the late singer, the family announced the appointment of Oladayo Ogungbe, Esq. as the sole legal representative for all estate and DNA-related matters.

They further disclosed that respected legal scholar Dr. Wahab Shittu, SAN, will continue representing them before investigative authorities and government bodies.

To manage the artist’s property and financial matters, the family named three estate administrators:

  • Ajewole Aloba

  • Rasaq Famuyiwa

  • Alonge Aloba

One additional administrative slot has been intentionally reserved for Wunmi but only if the DNA test confirms that her son, Liam, is indeed Mohbad’s biological child.

Family Directs Widow to Stop Using ‘Aloba’ Surname

In one of the statement’s most striking directives, the family ordered Wunmi to immediately stop using the Aloba surname in both private and public records.

According to them, this restriction will remain in place until a court-ordered DNA test provides lawful confirmation of Liam’s paternity. They emphasized that, contrary to widespread belief, no statutory or customary marriage existed between Mohbad and Wunmi.

The family clarified that if the DNA test ultimately confirms Liam as Mohbad’s son, both mother and child will be fully recognized in the estate administration and included in all legal and inheritance processes.

A Family Still Searching for Answers

Mohbad’s death ignited nationwide conversations, sparking protests, investigations, and calls for transparency from fans and human rights groups. Despite multiple probes, controversies and unanswered questions have continued to overshadow the case.

With the family now renewing its push for truth and legal clarity, many Nigerians hope that this latest step will finally bring progress to a case that has remained one of the most debated tragedies in the country’s entertainment history.

As the legal and investigative processes continue, the family insists it will not relent until justice, transparency, and closure are achieved.
